A visit to Yorkshire over Easter

March 2016

On Saturday March 26th while most people were butting a brave face on the Easter weather a party of Brethren from West Lancashire made an early start to venture into Yorkshire.

The reason for the outing was to attend the District Meeting for Yorkshire, being a neighbouring District the District Grand Prefect Bill Seddon lead a large deputation. We as ever received a warm welcome with tea and biscuits on our arrival.

At the meeting R.W.Bro. David Cordell D.G.P. for Yorkshire thanked Bill Seddon and the ten other members of our District for their support in attending the meeting, Eddie Crosby thought Cumberland and Westmorland had the largest contingent, but that was not to be, West Lancashire took that prize and even had (incognito) three other members of the District.

Following the meeting we were treated to a three course Banquet in the company of friends from both the District of Yorkshire and other Districts visiting the meeting.

Although the meeting took place over the Easter Weekend, the M62 back to the Red Rose County was remarkably quite making the return a straight forward journey.

On their arrival home the Chocolate Easters paled into insignificance for three Brethren, they had a pleasant surprise having received a letter from Mark Masons Hall; in June at the meeting of Mark Grand Lodge, Ernie Gavan will be appointed P.G.St.B. Geoff Catterall will be promoted to P.G.J.D. and Frank Clarke will be promoted to P.G.J.O.
